My Kitchen Witch Tea Pot Find!

I stopped in at my local charity shop and was tickled to find what I call a Kitchen Witch Tea pot. growing up my mother had a Kitchen Witch hanging in the kitchen that looked just like my new teapot.  I have come to understand that this tea pot is called Baba Yaga , you can read more about the folk lore of Baba Yaga by clicking here.
This teapot I bought for $8 is a really good find.  I have seen them on line for quite a bit more. I really am thrilled to have her . It is said that Baba Yaga is the protector of Life water, and that she is a guardian of the home. I am still on the look out for a kitchen witch like my mother had but this was a truly great find for a tea lover like me! Now to find her a place of honor!

Somehow over the years Baba Yaga became a Scandinavian kitchen witch. My own mother had at least one that I remember but when we moved when I was 11 I don't remember seeing it after that. I have been trying to track one down for years. My mothers was dressed in black like the one in the cross stitch. I would love to track one down so if you happen to see one wont you please let me know?
Thank you so much for joining me for a cup of tea and a cozy mystery today I look forward to sharing more  with you tomorrow.

On My Table And In My Cup May 30th-June 6th

This week on my table and in my cup, I started with a simple Saturday Morning tea. An old standby and one I have mentioned before an Earl Grey de la Creme this one happens to be from Steeped Tea. I have been asked to share about the tea pot I use and the one featured in today's post is the current favorite. I use my Royal Albert Old Country Roses Tea Pot From Time To Time but admittedly I drink several pots of tea per day and my go to for my black teas is a Trusty Dove Grey London Pottery Farmhouse Filter Teapot
My friend Anna gave me the teapot as a gift in November and it very quickly became my favorite pot, as the lid fits over the basket and nests perfectly in place. I would love to get a few more of these pots as they are well made, the filters are fantastic and the tea is kept very hot even with out the cozy. One of my favorite local spots for tea has a few they use in personal size that I would love to get my hands on. You can order them on line, I saw Amazon had them and in specialty tea shops as well. I was reading the Scarlet Wench by M.K. Graff when it arrived which is set in England and it just felt right.

On my table this week I tried something different and hoped you may have found it fun. The days of the week morning tea had me hoping and noticing the need to get a few more tea cups so that you may all not tired or get bored of the ones I use all the time.  I enjoyed doing this and may try it again, I hope to find another set of these little letters so that I could write more words, Wednesday was a challenge for me and thankfully no one took offense. Not enough "D's" in the package!
Did you have a favorite setting or day?

On my table this week and a series I just love arrived The Diva Steals A Chocolate Kiss by Krista Davis, I love love love this series and am enjoying this latest mystery so very much. Krista Davis' writing makes me feel like I am living in the story not just acting like a bystander. It feels like hanging out with your fabulous friends you have not seen for a while. A truly great weekend escape. I am enjoying Neverland Tea Salon's Black Tea called Vanilla Ice Cream, it is a sweet treat and perfect to go with this chocolate kiss diva mystery!
Finally I wish to say thank you to all of you who took the time to vote for me for Vancouvermom.ca's Top Blogger of 2015. While I did not win, I so appreciate your time and your votes.
I hope wherever you find yourself this weekend you find yourself some quiet and peace.
Until next time, thank you for joining me for a cup of tea and a cozy mystery.

Yard Sale Beauty, $2 Teapot Find!

My friend Lori was at a community yard sale this past weekend and she picked me up a tea set she new I would like for $2.
This lovely container revealed a stunning bone china tea pot, over sized teacup where the pot can rest and a large saucer!
The teapot is beautifully decorated and I love the design.
One of my favorite types of tea cups are those that have a pattern on the inside lip of the cup. I love how it matches!
This is such a lovely find and here is the info on the bottom of the box.

I would love to rescue every teapot and cup and saucer set I find however I find I am met with to many questions about the amount of teapots already in my possession....
Karen's A Cup of Tea And A Cozy Mystery Tip #1 -Things never to ask a woman:
Her age. Her bra size. How many books she may have. Why do she may need another, How many tea sets she owns or how many tea cups in her collection...it is rude to do so, unless a true intervention is required. **Disclaimer as I do not need an intervention (really I don't). I use all the teapots, sets, cups and saucers in my collection. If there is a book in my house I have read it and it is now a trophy and no I am not yet ready to let go. I will own up to my age, I will own up to my bra size but you would be hard pressed to get a straight answer on the amount of books, tea sets and cups and saucers in my possession.
Thank you for joining me for my new cup of Tea/Tea pot post and my Tea and Cozy Mystery Tip. The mystery of today's post shall remain the amount of items in my personal possession related to tea...

Teapots To Go? My Stylish Holiday Plan...

I will be traveling this summer and the thought of leaving home with out a proper teapot and tea cup for two weeks gives me heart palpitations. Likely the reason I don not camp. So I was looking for a way I could transport a small tea pot for our two week road trip this summer and came up with something that will serve a duel purpose and be super stylish at the same time!
I ordered two small handbags that will work as an evening bag for the wedding we are going to and will easily carry my small teapot for the trip. Try as I might, I don't love making tea in a mug and I don't love brewing it in my metal thermos either.
These little bags fit a small tea pot and one small 50 gram tin of tea easily. I may have to bring both and wrap a teacup an saucer up in the other for traveling purposes. These were a great deal and I ordered them on Ebay for just under $5.50 Canadian you can view them on line by clicking here.
I am thrilled with my order and I know these little bags are going to be the envy of my nieces.
Thank you for joining me for a cup of tea and my tea time find.
