Week 9 here at the Three Amigos Summer Reading Club and this weeks theme is Summer Food Cozy Mysteries, my selection is...
Susan Furlong's Rest in Peach, This is a series I so enjoyed and nothing says summer food to me more than Peaches! (okay well burgers too, but that sweet soft warm ripe peach is a summer tradition!) This book was about summer, about the south about fun and family and coming together. I love this series and the recipes too, I think I need to go make some Peach Cobbler...

On My Table and In My Cup February 4th-11th

Another great week of reading has come to an end and I am delighted to share a recap of the books that have crossed my table this week. Above are the books my friend Karen sent me for our January books swap. I am so excited to read these as Karen introduced me to this series and I love Sid!
Sunday I shared my review of Fran Stewart's Scotshop Mystery A Wee Homicide in the Hotel. As I sat inside looking out over the snow covered yard it was wonderful to have this summer set cozy to escape too!

Monday on my table I reviewed Clover Tate's new release Blown Away, set on the West Coast and in the Spring it was another great escape cozy!
I was so thrilled to find my quote on the inside War and Peach!
I love this series and it was a great honor to find that quote inside! Family loyalty and great mystery await you in War and Peach by Susan Furlong.

Paige Shelton's Bookman Dead Style was a book I just did not want to end! I am new to this series and thrilled with this book. It is well written and felt like a guilty pleasure to read. A must read for sure!
A Chocolate Paranormal Witch Cozy that was exactly what I needed mid week! Having a good escape cozy with a chocolate theme made it all the more sweeter! This is a first in series and a good read! At the time of publishing this post it is on sale at amazon.com for less then the cost of a chocolate bar! A sweet deal for sure. Click here to learn more.

Also on my table (and very excited to share my review with you tomorrow) was Murder is Uncooperative by Merrilee Robson. This cozy is based here in Vancouver and was an honor to read.
Monday I will share my review of Poison in the Heart by ST Englert. This Bite Sized Read is one I know you are going to love!
Have you been following the clues? Kathi Daley Books is hosting a very fun Valentines Day Scavenger Hunt.  Do check my Facebook on February 13th for the clue of the day!
This week I have had a selection of Murchie's Teas in my cup, their Vanilla black tea is my favorite and with all the stree of the snow storms this week I have also truly enjoyed their Lavender Black tea as well.
Thank you so much for joining me for a cup of tea and a week in review. I look forward to having you here each and every day. I would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com

War and Peach by Susan Furlong

It is release day for War and Peach the third book in the Georgia Peach Mystery Series by Susan Furlong. I enjoy this series for the family loyalty, the struggles that the family faces which are not superficial and reflective of the struggle of farmers everywhere. I also enjoy the relationship between main character Nola Mae and her family, friends and customers. The main mystery in this story had me guessing until the big reveal and I was actually caught up and enjoying the political twist in this book. I love the dog Roscoe as well! I hope this series continues beyond this third book and I can not wait to try the peach cookie recipe in the back of the book.
The author of Rest in Peach serves up another bite of Southern charm in the latest Georgia Peach mystery.

Nola Mae Harper is too busy restocking the jars of preserves and chutney flying off the shelves of her shop, Peachy Keen, to keep up with all the gossip about the upcoming mayoral election, but she does know the debate is sure to be a real barn burner.  Local farmer Clem Rogers claims he has a bombshell that could take small business owner Margie Price out of the running. But before Clem can reveal his juicy secret at the debate, his actual barn goes up in flames—with him inside of it. The town casts its vote against Margie, but Nola isn’t convinced the hardworking woman is capable of murder. Now to clear Margie's name Nola will have to work fast under pressure, before Margie gets taken in by the fuzz...

To order your own copy of War and Peach from Amazon please click here.
I love this series and was thrilled to find my quote about it printed in War and Peach. Learn more about the Georgia Peach Mystery Series by clicking here.

On My Table and In My Cup January 28th- February 4th

As I write this weeks week in review I am watching the snowflakes continue to fall. The way they fall is not exactly romantic nor is it delicate, they are coming down hard and sticking as if to taunt us. The largely wet west coast is not used to this, nor am I. We do not enjoy this type of weather at the best of times and as it is falling steady and unending I can only hope the rain starts soon. Snow like this is unusual and we are almost always unprepared. Though this time we have salt, shovels and the clothes necessary, I have been unable to muster the childlike excitement I used to have on those very rare occasions of snow. In protest of the falling snow I put Clover Tate's new series with its very spring like cover on my table with a very pretty pink tea cup. This is the book I am reading today.
Just finished Fran Stewart's A Wee Homicide in the Hotel looking forward to sharing this review with you tomorrow.
I loved all the pet themed cozies I read this week and could really use a vacation at the Wagtail Inn, Krista Davis Paws & Claws series had me so excited this week and I hope you will enjoy this February release as well.
My cat Mia fittingly joined my morning tea photo this week with Miranda James Twelve Angry Librarians. This is a fantastic series about a very smart man and his main coon cat. I have truly enjoyed each book in this series, this one is out February 21st.
In addition to the package of books that arrived I was lucky to also have a care package from a dear friend arrive, the bird is a stunning statue and all the goodies were so delightful and a surprise. I also got a lovely notebook with a lighthouse on the front, just waiting for me to put some ideas down in.
This has been a busy week and the return of the snow will have us all slowing down a bit. I hope you find some time to read and stay warm this weekend.
Thank you for joining me for a cup of tea and a cozy mystery review. I would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com

A Cup Of Tea & Visit With Author Susan Furlong Author of Rest In Peach

Today I am so pleased to share with you a cup of tea and a visit with Author Susan Furlong of the Georgia Peach Mystery Series. Her second book in the series Rest in Peach came out April 5 and was one of my most favorite stories thus far this year.
Susan kindly shared her answers to some of my questions and I hope you will enjoy reading them below.

What gave you the idea to write a peach themed southern cozy?

Have you ever tried a peach black tea? If so do you have a favorite you can recommend?

What is your favorite Peach themed recipe?

Is there a third book in the series coming soon?

Is there anything you would like my readers to know?

I was thrilled when I opened my copy of Rest In Peach and I found that my quote from the review of Preaches and Scream was included on the first page!
Thank you Susan for joining us today and for such a wonderful series.
As with all our posts we would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com

On My Table And In My Cup March 19th-26th

Boy oh boy where has the month gone? What a wild week this has been. Sadly Spring Break for us is ending Tuesday and I shall miss the reprieve. I am counting the days until summer break for sure. I think I am the most excited person when school is done for the year.

This week had it's ups and it's downs. While I have been trying to promote the cozy community in whole and recommending that each person who reads also reviews I thought it might be fun to take a photo with a few of my favorite books piled on my table. My photos had the effect I was looking for and made me so happy. As I was editing the photos for my blog my curious kitten Mia manged to some how knock over a pile on to my candle which I did not sadly notice in time.

Heart broken but thrilled that I was only 2 feet away, there was one casualty that I am truly heart sick about and it seems to be out of print. It was one of my first cozy mysteries I ever read, I am now looking to replace it.   If you have not read Ellen Byerrum's Crime of Fashion Mysteries they were one of my first series and one of my favorites. This was my favorite of the entire series as I said before so I am a tad sad.
New on my table this week some of April's most amazing series. Duffy Brown's Braking For Bodies (which the review will be up Sunday) was such a wild ride, Ellery Adams Breach of Crust, Connie Archer's A Clue in the Sew, Susan Furlong's Rest In Peach, Amanda Flower's Crime and Poetry and I am currently reading Dawn Eastman's An Unhappy Medium. These books are out April 5th.
Out in June, I finished Sheila Connolly's book as well this week and I think you will enjoy book 7 in this series.
I shall leave you here and thank you for joining me for a week in review, It is a good thing our kitten culprit is cute!  Lifting my Caramel Black Tea cups and toasting you all.
Thank you for joining me for a cup of tea and a cozy mystery week in review.

On My Table and In My Cup March 12-19th

What a week. I am so thankful to be on Spring Break even though we have been doing mostly doctor appointments it has been nice to just not rush. I was proudly wearing my green this week as this is my first true St. Patrick's day knowing my Irish heritage. I was so touched when a friend who lives in Ireland send me a care package shown below and it arrived on St. Patrick's day.
I am so unbelievably lucky with the friends I have made online over the years . They are some of the most giving and kind people that I honored to call friends. Thank you Tracey! I am so very touched!
I wore my new earrings and my necklace with pride and love everything you sent me, especially the little sheep!

This week I read and reviewed three books. It was such a delight to have Ellery Adams Breach of Crust on my table this week along with Susan Furlongs.
Rest in Peach was a wonderful story and a great second in series.

All three of the books I read this week are out on April 5th. Crime and Poetry is a first in series from Amanda Flower and was so much better then I could have imagined. I am looking forward to another  book in this series and I hope we won't have to wait to long.
I was treated to a paper back copy of Crime and Poetry in the mail box on Friday and I was tickled when Squirrel sat down to join me for tea.

This week I was rather adventurous on the loose leaf tea front and I had three new teas I tried, while I only got the first one up for review I promise to share more on my tea finds in the next few weeks. This lovely Darjeeling, from Happy Earth Tea was a tasty treat!
Another lovely friend brought over a planter she made for me, It was such a wonderful surprise and all the daffodils have now opened, it is quite a nice arrangement. I am also working my way through the April release of Connie Archers book A Clue In The Stew.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I thank you so much for joining me for A Cup of Tea and A Cozy Mystery week in review. I would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com
