Today I am so pleased to share with you a cup of tea and a visit with Author Susan Furlong of the Georgia Peach Mystery Series. Her second book in the series Rest in Peach came out April 5 and was one of my most favorite stories thus far this year.
Susan kindly shared her answers to some of my questions and I hope you will enjoy reading them below.
What gave you the idea to write a peach themed southern cozy?
The basic idea for the Georgia Peach Mysteries came from my agent. She was looking to fill a particular market niche in the cozy mystery genre and asked if I knew anything about peaches or Georgia. Well … I love to eat peaches, and I grow a half-dozen peach trees of my own, and even though we’re in the Midwest now, I’d lived in Texas for a while. All in all, it seemed like a good fit, so I decided to give it a try. After the contract was finalized, I traveled to Georgia and spent time learning as much as I could about peach growing and the folks who live in that area of the country. Georgians are so gracious and I enjoyed my time there.
Have you ever tried a peach black tea? If so do you have a favorite you can recommend?
Bigelow makes an herbal tea called Perfect Peach Tea. It’s quite good! I often steep two bags and then pour it over ice. Yum!
What is your favorite Peach themed recipe?
Definitely peach cobbler--especially when it’s warm out of the oven with ice cream melting on top. My favorite peach cobbler recipe is in the back of PEACHES AND SCREAM.
Is there a third book in the series coming soon?
WAR AND PEACH releases in February of 2017. I’m very excited about WAR AND PEACH because the ending has a jaw-dropping plot twist. I think readers will be surprised.
Is there anything you would like my readers to know?
The best thing about being a writer is the opportunity to share stories with readers. I’ve found that cozy mystery readers are, by far, the most supportive group of readers around. I hope you all know how much authors appreciate your loyalty and enthusiasm for our work. We also greatly appreciate folks like you, Karen, who dedicate so much of your time to bring readers and authors together.
Rest In Peach and I found that my quote from the review of Preaches and Scream was included on the first page!
Thank you Susan for joining us today and for such a wonderful series.
