Austen Era London Society Cozy Mystery Yes Please! A Useful Woman by Darcie Wilde

I was sent the most wonderful first in series by Darcie Wilde  called A Useful Woman
an Austen Era Mystery that was captivating, creative and fun!
The cover is also one I simply love!

"Inspired by the novels of Jane Austen, this new mystery series set in 19th-century London introduces the charming and resourceful Rosalind Thorne, a woman privy to the secrets of high society including who among the "ton" is capable of murder... The daughter of a baronet and minor heiress, Rosalind Thorne was nearly ruined after her father abandoned the family. To survive in the only world she knew, she began to manage the affairs of some of London society s most influential women, who have come to rely on her wit and discretion. So, when artistocratic wastrel Jasper Aimesworth is found dead in London s most exclusive ballroom, Almack s, Rosalind must use her skills and connections to uncover the killer from a list of suspects that includes Almack s powerful patronesses and her former suitor Devon Winterbourne, now Lord Casselmaine. Torn between her old love and a growing attraction to a compelling Bow Street runner, Rosalind must not only unravel the mysteries surrounding Jasper s death, but the mysteries of her own heart as well..."

Reading A Useful Woman I was whisked away to Austen's World, a time when an independent woman even an well connected one was almost unheard of. All the social graces and customs mastered mattered little if your family was in disgrace, however in this lovely story Rosalind Thorne manages to navigate the wire between the aristocracy and the influential woman who run London Society.  I expect great things from Darcie Wilde in this series and if you love all things Austen, this is a great series to get into!

May has some truly wonderful reads just waiting on you to pick up, hold in your hand and in your hearts forever!

I am currently reading Irish Stewed by Kylie Logan  which is one of the amazing cozy mysteries being released today! I am on chapter 15 and hated to put it down last night so I could get some sleep! I love a captivating first in series and love it even more when the tea cups match the books I am reading.

Also out today is Carolyn Hart's Don't Go Home, the cover fits this story well and no spoilers from me, I will tell you I have a review planned for later this month!
Betty Hechtman 's Seams like Murder was such a fun read, catching up with the gang and still trying to get the hang of the hook myself, I love a well spun and tangled yarn type mystery!
I can not insist more that you pick up this second in series and be inspired and transported to the Hamptons, this is a great weekend read! Kathleen Bridge has a unique and wonderful lead character I know you are going to just love.

Darcie Wilde, what can I say A Useful Woman was a "distinctly discerning" read. sharing my review of this one on May 10th, I can not help but get very excited for those of you who are going to loose yourself in this Austen Era Mystery!
No words needed, if you are a fan of this series you are likely lining up if you have not got the mail man dropping your order of to you! Heather Blake and the Wishcraft Mystery Series is one of the best!
I will admit I splurged and bought this in hard back but for those of you who were excitedly waiting on the release of the paper back today is your day! I know you are going to be simply amazed by this cozy by Lorna Barrettm, my lips are sealed but I will say read with Kleenex, ice-cream and take your phone off the hook, you wont want to put it down!

On My Table and In My Cup April 23-30th

This week was an exciting one for me, I was truly blessed with all the birthday wishes, lovely gifts and wonderful books to read.
I have spent some time in my tea tent and organizing the yard for the better weather, as it warms up I will be happy to read in the back yard especially as my niece PB loves to be outside and not inside. She is a very busy toddler and loves the back yard.
All of Heather Blake's books were on my table this week and Gone with the Witch was spectacular! You are going to love it!
I had Hearse and Gardens by Kathleen Bride on my table this week and it was such an exciting read!

I did read and finish A Useful Woman and look forward to sharing my review with you on the 10th of May. I am trying to space my reviews out a bit and this book is one you will want to savor! I will say this Darcie Wilde has me excited for this new series!
Last night I finished Seams Like Murder and will have a review for you on the 12th. I enjoyed a new Lady Grey Tea I was given for my birthday this week from Pippin's and I shared a review of it Steeped in Traddition click here to see the review.
I was so pleased to have Terrie pop by for tea this week and share about her series and her new book Read To Death.

On My Table and In My Cup April 16-23rd

This week I have had some lovely soon to be released titles on my table, I have actually had more then a dozen cross my table since Wednesday and though I have tried I have merely made a small dent of only a few of them read and set for review.
I am truly delighted with the task at hand!
Fixin to Die by Tonya Kappes was a good read, some wonderful funny and endearing moments and one you are might just get hooked on!
A wonderfully indulgent and inspiring read The Book of Sacred Baths was a much needed and truly delightful self-care escape.
The Tea Party In The Woods was a lovely addition to my table this week, child like wonder and comfort in this book, one you should pick up for yourself and the little tea party lovers in your life.
A Grand Murder, somewhat of a different style of cozy, also crossed my table and made for an entertaining read.
I was most excited to have Heather Blake's Gone with the Witch very briefly on my table as I could not put it down and am excited to share my review Sunday with you all.

for now I am a few chapters away from finishing A Useful Woman, this Austen Era mystery I shall share a review of early next week.

In my cup this week I have enjoyed Irish Breakfast, Heavenly Cream black teas and a lovely Wild Strawberry Green Tea. The weather has been lovely for the last few days and I have also been enjoying a iced sweetened peach black tea. More on that as the weather warms and the days get longer.
Thank you for joining me for a cup of tea and a week in review. I would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com
