An Unhappy Medium A Series You Should Be Reading!

A rainy day, a delicate tea cup and saucer, a delectable caramel tea and a constant companion by candle light not a bad way to almost end this month of April. An Unhappy Medium by Dawn Eastman was released earlier this month and I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing it. This was the perfect book to read over the Easter weekend. Dawn Eastman writes in away that makes you feel like you are a welcome member of main character Clyde's family.

"Psychic Clyde Fortune and her zany family are back in the fourth in the national bestselling series from the author of "A Fright to the Death." "Former cop and novice psychic Clyde Fortune finds herself in a race for justice when a Zombie Fun Run turns deadly..." "" All of Crystal Haven, Michigan, is psyching up to participate in a Zombie Fun Run organized by Clyde s nephew Seth, but Clyde is fretful about the undead festivities. For one thing, her sister, Grace, has unexpectedly returned to town after fifteen years. For another, Clyde has the nagging feeling that something is about to go wrong... When one of the zombie runners is found murdered and then Grace disappears, Clyde realizes her grim premonition is dead-on. Now, she and her police detective boyfriend Mac must find a ghoulish murderer before someone points the finger at Grace. And when a tangled web of family secrets and old grudges combines with a mysterious case of stolen diamonds, even someone as quick-witted as Clyde might not be able to outrun a killer..."

I first discovered this series in 2014 and I loved reading through it, I hope you find and feel the same connections, to these characters that I did.

On My Table And In My Cup March 26-April 2nd

It is April! March did come in like a Lion and left here on the west coast like a lamb. What a beautiful week we have been enjoying!. I am equally excited about all the wonderful books that are being released for you all to read this month. I have a had a few of them on my table in the last week and I was so thrilled to be able to share my reviews with you.
I read 13 cozy mysteries in March along with two advanced reading copies of cook books out later this spring, I think that is a new record for me!

Kathi Daley's new first in series based in Hawaii was a night well spent this past week! I enjoyed having it on my table and a "quick trip" to Hawaii if only in my Mind Monday night!
Next Tuesday several of my favorite series have a book released! You are all in for a treat!
Mia and I truly enjoyed March's Advanced Reading Copies!
This is a very busy weekend for me as by the time you read this I will be on my way to my sons year end Hockey Tournament! Not sure I will get even a few minutes to read this new to me series book one by Jeanne Quigley.
Also making it to my table this week Murder& Mayhem in Goose Pimple Junction, doesn't the name make you want to pick it up too? This one is by Amy Metz and arrived in the mail Friday afternoon!
Happy World Autism Day! Showing the world we CAN play hockey!

Dawn Eastman's An Unhappy Medium Makes For An Exceptionally Happy Read!

I do not know what it is about the way Dawn Eastman writes but it sure does make one feel at home.
Book four in the A Family Fortune Mystery Series Titled An Unhappy Medium is out April 5th and is is this cozy mystery lovers favorite type of cozy. A touch of paranormal, a large dose of dysfunctional family, great relationships and even a Zombie Charity Fun Run.

One of the things I like about An Unhappy Medium is that you learn more about Crystal Haven and the towns history. This story will take you along  for the run, with main character Clyde's, her eccentric Aunt and eclectic family this mystery is exciting and it is endearing.
This is only one of the the reasons I pre order each book in this series and why I think you should order this series and add it to your favorites list!

On My Table And In My Cup March 19th-26th

Boy oh boy where has the month gone? What a wild week this has been. Sadly Spring Break for us is ending Tuesday and I shall miss the reprieve. I am counting the days until summer break for sure. I think I am the most excited person when school is done for the year.

This week had it's ups and it's downs. While I have been trying to promote the cozy community in whole and recommending that each person who reads also reviews I thought it might be fun to take a photo with a few of my favorite books piled on my table. My photos had the effect I was looking for and made me so happy. As I was editing the photos for my blog my curious kitten Mia manged to some how knock over a pile on to my candle which I did not sadly notice in time.

Heart broken but thrilled that I was only 2 feet away, there was one casualty that I am truly heart sick about and it seems to be out of print. It was one of my first cozy mysteries I ever read, I am now looking to replace it.   If you have not read Ellen Byerrum's Crime of Fashion Mysteries they were one of my first series and one of my favorites. This was my favorite of the entire series as I said before so I am a tad sad.
New on my table this week some of April's most amazing series. Duffy Brown's Braking For Bodies (which the review will be up Sunday) was such a wild ride, Ellery Adams Breach of Crust, Connie Archer's A Clue in the Sew, Susan Furlong's Rest In Peach, Amanda Flower's Crime and Poetry and I am currently reading Dawn Eastman's An Unhappy Medium. These books are out April 5th.
Out in June, I finished Sheila Connolly's book as well this week and I think you will enjoy book 7 in this series.
I shall leave you here and thank you for joining me for a week in review, It is a good thing our kitten culprit is cute!  Lifting my Caramel Black Tea cups and toasting you all.
Thank you for joining me for a cup of tea and a cozy mystery week in review.

A Fright To The Death by Dawn Eastman

I finished a Fright To the Death by Dawn Eastman last night. This is the third book in the Family Fortune Mystery series and the best one thus far!
Main character Clyde Fortune has her hands full in this story with her family and mysterious death that have now serendipitously found away to put the breaks on her romantic getaway with her boy friend Mac. Clyde and Mac find themselves stuck in a horrible winter storm and seeking shelter in what Mac hopes will be a Romantic  Castle getaway, the two are disappointed to learn that the castle is full, of their own families who are away on a Knitting Retreat.  While they wait for the blizzard to blow over, the sudden murder of one of the castle owners casts a shadow of a doubt over the knitters, owners and staff alike.
Snowed in, no power, great food and great mystery this story has delightful characters, wonderful family interactions, a bit of supernatural mayhem and some truly wonderful pets. I highly recommend this series and really enjoyed this book.

Becareful What You Witch For Exactly What I Needed!

I just finished Dawn Eastman's book Be Careful What You Witch For. I belong to a Facebook group called Chatting About Cozies  which is where I found out about this book and series. I am always up for a cozy that has some paranormal aspects to it and as I have admitted in the past I do judge books by their cover. I was simply drawn to this one. Fall and a beautiful old house with two lovely dogs on the front...hook, line and sinker...

I pre ordered a bunch of cozies that all seem to be released this July so the last few weeks I had to rely on my spin the book shelf at my local library until they arrived, this book was exactly what I needed. Some of the books I checked out were great others just not my style. This one however was different.
Small town, perfect fall setting and characters I could really get behind and route for. I love it when I can still fall for a cozy series even when I do not start with book one. I was hooked by the end of the first paragraph and read this book in under 24 hours....which as a busy mother of three is no small feat, throw in my Dyslexia and the fact that I spent two prime reading hours watching Dr Who last night is very impressive. At least to me.
As I am Canadian living in Canada today was not a holiday for us here so when the mail man delivered 4 of my other pre ordered titles from The Book Depository today I was even more determined to finish Be Careful What You Witch For.  In case any of you are wondering, I don't work for The Book Depository (they ship world wide for free this is why I am sharing this info) and I ordered all my own books, these have not been sent to me to review. My opinions of these books I review are truly my own. I am thankful to Chatting about Cozies for recommending this book and series to me and I look forward to reading more of them.
