On My Table and In my Cup September 16-September 23rd

First chapter, hook line and sinker, wishing I could put the world on hold to have read this one in one sitting. Still working my way through it, wishing time would stand still, knowing when I finish it I will have to wait that much longer for the next one. Ellery Adams is one of my most favorite authors and this subject  is right up my alley!

This book by Linda Lovely is out near the end of October and I finished this one and dreamed all about it, review for this one will be out October 1st.
Oh what fun to have had Barbara  Early's book to read and finish this week, review coming up soon. Loved this toy themed cozy.
I read and enjoyed Canal Days Calamity this week by Jamie M. Blair, a dog lover's delight for sure.
I got a sweet surprise in my mailbox from Karen K this week, I love Doctor Who as you may know and she kindly sent me the above books! My kids were as excited as I was! I also got to break out my Doctor Who themed Teacup I had made...see the tiny tardis on the saucer.  Each cup of tea is really like a Tardis, the flavor is so much bigger on the inside....Tea in the cup is Carrot Cake by Murchie's...

In my cup this week I have had my lovely Murchie's Black Tea but I have also had their new Rooibos Tea called Carrot Cake. I went in store to get more of the Black tea and while there they were sampling the Carrot Cake one which I normally would not go for but it smelled so nice and it had full flavor, it tasted to me more like a coffee cake my mom used to make and I loved it.

Great flavor, color and taste, this one really surprised me. Find out more by clicking here.

If you missed my post on Wednesday, it is the one where I shared my photos from my annual witches tea. I really am so grateful to my friends for joining me year after year and making this such a fun event. You are never too old to have a fancy dress party and I hope that next years will be even larger and include more friends!

Thank you for joining me for this weeks look back at what has been on my table and in my cup. I love having you join me and hearing from you. Please leave me a comment below or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com

New Teas On My Table From Because UR Priceless

I recently found Because UR Priceless Tea on Etsy and placed an order for one of their samplers. The Teas arrived Thursday afternoon to my delight and I quickly dove in.

Today I will share a review of one of the blends I was most excited about the Timey Wimey...Tea, an Organic black tea scented with  organic orange peel and vanilla bean pieces.

I have been waiting on this tea to use with just the right cup for the job!
I promise I did not spill a drop, this tea was refreshing, I could taste the orange peel for sure and a light hint of vanilla, this tea left me feeling like I should have ordered the large tin and I quickly brewed myself some more. I was very pleasantly surprised with this tea and thrilled to have sampled it. This was the perfect excuse to use my more then perfect teacup and saucer for the tasting!
This is a great way to go into the weekend, great books to read and tea to enjoy! To check out Because UR Priceless Etsy Shop please click here.

Thank you for joining me for a cup of tea and a cozy mystery today! I would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com

A Teacup Adventure Awaits Me Now With Each Sip! Check Out My New Custom Teacup and Saucer Purchase.

I treated myself to a new custom tea cup which arrived yesterday. I had seen and shared a wonderful Doctor Who themed teacup and Etsy shop a little while back and I asked the shop owner Lithia of Lithia's Creations to do a set with my favorite Doctor's (David Tennant) Catch Phrase instead of the one she had for Matt Smith's character. I was so delighted with what she made me and holding it in my hands I am even more thrilled!
I really am impressed with the quality too! The cup it's self and saucer is Imperial China, W. Dalton pattern is Seville. The tiny blue flowers lend themselves beautifully to the altered theme!
I know many of you are wondering the cost and I found the cost of the set to be extremely reasonable! Her altered sets start at $20!  I am only sorry that shipping between Canada and the USA and vice versa cost so much! I would however not hesitate to purchase anything from Lithia as this exceeded my expectations!
Sold but not to me! She does take custom orders as well!

Working with her on the custom listing was also a great experience. If you would like to check out Lithia's Creations Etsy shop (even chat with her about your own custom listing) please click here.
You can also find her shop and fan page on Facebook by clicking here.
Thank you for joining me for a cup of tea and a cozy mystery! Tomorrow my review of Lucy Arlington's Off The Books will be up! I hope you will join me then too!

An Etsy Tea Review and Wish List

I recently made a purchase from an on line shop offering some fun teas that happen to fit one of my most favorite hobbies Doctor Who. Combining my love of Doctor Who and Tea I knew I had to find out more so I ordered myself a treat from Black Out Art. The order came with 4 Doctor Who Themed Teas, A beautiful print (shown above) and some lovely Doctor Who Pins.
Being that the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant is my favorite Doctor I tried the "Allons-y!" Tea, It is a  mild black tea with chocolate chips, thai chia spice, coconut and pineapple.  I  did enjoy it, though I would double the amount I used next time as it was not as strong as I would like. It was also the first time I used my Tardis mug, which I got for Christmas. I would love a Doctor Who Themed Teacup and Saucer....from LithiasCreations

This is the most perfect set, for a tea loving Doctor Who fan.  I only wish this would ship to Canada. Click here to view this fun shop and listing.

A Recipe And Tea Time With The Doctor The New Season Is A Cozy Mystery In It's Self...

Indulge me here please as I share another passion of mine. I do love Doctor Who. Ten will always be my doctor but hey they all are. Last year for Christmas my boys gave me all Doctor Who Themed gifts, cookie cutters, tea towels, and plates. The previous year my Husband gave me my Tardis Tea Pot, I have put request in for a Tardis Mug for this year and a Tenth Doctor Pop Figure. My boys love these crazy Pop Figures and I am pretty sure I will be on the good list and find these under the tree in 97 more days....oh Christmas is a hobby of mine too. My wonderful sister Bre and her family bought me the Tardis Cookie Jar for Christmas last year and I got the Doctor Who book for Mothers day from my boys.  The Doctor Who series begins again this weekend and I am very excited.

I baked these cookies to celebrate and share while my husband and I watch the Magician's Apprentice!
If you are not a Doctor Who fan and you have patiently awaited for the recipe portion of today's post here is my recipe for the perfect sugar cookies for cut outs!

Karen's Perfect Sugar Cookies For Cut Outs Recipe

  • 1 cup of margarine
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
Beat the margarine and sugar add the eggs, vanilla and milk. Beat in the baking powder and flour. Place your dough on to some wax paper or parchment paper, cover with plastic wrap and chill at least two hours (I chill mine overnight).

Roll out the dough to your desired thickness (you will need to flour your work space and your rolling pin. Cut out your shapes and bake 10-12 minutes at 350 until the edges of the cookies are slightly golden brown.
*You could make these sandwich type cookies and push two cookies together with icing or Nutella but I find them sweet enough on their own.

I hope you have a wonderful time watching The Doctor this weekend or baking cookies! Thank you for joining me for a Cup of Tea and Some Yummy Cookies!
