Life is Tough But So Are You by Heather Stilllufsen

A few weeks ago I got a lovely treat in the mail. A great friend of mine shipped me Heather Stillufsen's latest book, Life is Tough but So Are You. This is a book that was on my wish list and when it arrived I was so thrilled to have it to hold and read. This is a short but sweet collection of inspirational thoughts and beautiful artwork. I have been a huge fan of Heather's art for years, purchasing her art cards through her Etsy shop Rosehill Design Studio.
I also follow Heather on Instagram and each day her art work is a gentle push and reminder to focus on the positive.
This book is a Blue Mountain Arts published book.  This book came out in September but was only available in Canada in October. I would love to have each book in her series on my table and in my hands.

When nothing seems to be going right, this book is here to remind you that the resilience, hope, and determination you need is right inside you. Heather Stillufsen's charming illustrations and empowering messages will help you see the rainbow in the midst of the storm and show you the way to a brighter tomorrow.

You can find this book on Amazon by clicking here.
You can find Heather's Art work in her Etsy shop as well by clicking here.

Painting, Selfcare and a couple of great books...

A few months ago I started to see a therapist and I mentioned how I felt I had lost my creative spark. I expressed a desire to paint but did not have the confidence to start. She was really helpful in showing me that even though I had no real experience in painting, that the act of painting was something if I felt I would like to try, would be worth wild.  She was right. I have found that painting for me gives me a creative outlet and has helped me add more joy to my life.
The therapist recommended a book that I found to be very helpful called The Artist Way
This book has many different covers and while you should be able to find it at your library I recommend you can also get a copy for yourself like I did on The Book Depository by clicking here.
Through the summer I also found another book that I really liked and it even referenced the book The Artists Way,  Painting Your Way Out of A Corner, hit the right buttons for me and made me laugh and think, while creating. I loved that painting doesn't have to cost much, I seriously get my supplies at the dollar store and even got a childs paint set like you use in preschool. I found that the art of sitting there and just letting the paint hit the paper was calming in away I had only hoped. Do I love everything I paint? Not really but I do love the act of painting. The process is what I love.

If you are thinking of ways to reignite your creative self or are trying to find that creative spark, maybe these books will help you as they helped me.
To find these books on The Book Depository, with free shipping,  click the links below, or simply check them out at your local library.
For The Artists Way by Julia Cameron, click here.
For the book Paint Your Way Out of The Corner, by Barbara Diane Barry,  click here.
Thank you for joining me for a cup of tea and a look at two books I found very helpful for selfcare.

Maria DeBlassie's Everyday Enchantments...

Maria DeBlassie's new book Everyday Enchantments is a very different read for me, this book is unique in the way it is written and presented. This book is very descriptive, narrative of  the authors life. I enjoyed reading through it and the imagery that the words help to create a book that  makes for wonderful guided meditation. This book may not be for everyone but it was has elements we can all appreciate and learn from. I loved the cover of this book.

Everyday Enchantments is a love letter to the magic of everyday life, the sweet moments and the profound that we often overlook in our hurry to get from one place to the next. What if we had the power to unplug from our daily hustle and bustle and conjure a more profound way of living rooted in natural mysticism? We do. All it takes is the whispered wish for more everyday enchantment breathed onto a dandelion head. This collection of essays reminds us to escape into the ordinary, find beauty in a simple cup of tea or rereading a beloved novel—and joyfully let our world turn upside down when synchronicity strikes in the form of wrong turns down forgotten lanes and unexpected midnight conversations with the moon.  This book is a study in what it means to live deliciously, joyfully, and magically. And it’s an invitation to conjure your own bliss—-because let’s face it: we could all use a little more magic in our lives.

This book is out now nad you can find it on Amazon by clicking here.

Say Goodbye to Survival Mode by Crystal Paine

When I was in the hospital I saw this book come up for 99 cents on Amazon in a Facebook post and thought I would take a chance on it. Say Goodby Survival Mode is written by Crystal Paine  is a self help book in a very big market of over stretched moms. This book appealed to me because of it's title and the content as well. The first few chapters was more of a validation of what I was already doing. I did pick up some new ideas in the later chapters. I did take to heart some of what was in this book. Truth be told, this book was a little more religious based then I would normally have been comfortable with. However there is good sound advice in this book and I am glad I took a chance on this book.

Calling the super busy, the stressed out, the overtired.

You Have 4 Minutes To Change Your Life by Rebeckah Borucki

Today I have a book review for you of a self help book called You have 4 minutes to Change Your Life by Rebekah Borucki . This was a very interesting read. It is part self help meditation and part auto biography, a interesting read. This is a time of year where many of us look and do our best to start over, live life better and gain control of our own happiness. This book is a great motivation tool for anyone looking to add meditation to their repertoire. I enjoyed reading it and I truly do believe that in taking time for self care you really can change the way you look at your life.
