My trusty $19 special from Walmart a plastic kettle that heated up my tea water on demand died. I am now using my tiny travel $9 special and it's not really getting the job done. So I have been looking at investing in a better kettle one I hope will last longer then one year.
I would love to have your feed back. I also do have a lovely stove top kettle I can use in a pinch but I am leaning towards getting another counter top type. What is holding me back is the prices of the ones that I have been looking at on line and in store. I am really wondering if I will taste the difference in the more expensive brands.
At the top end of my wish list is an almost $200 Breville, this one lets you choose the temperature of the water, turns off if it runs out of water and it will keep water at the perfect temp for 20 mins, but the draw back is it too only has a one year warranty...
The other style I was looking at was this one, it is glass, which looks great but is it practical? I am not sure. It also has only a one year warranty and one temp setting and is around $70.
All in all I am stumped, I do use the kettle twice a day minimum, so having it last only a year for $20 is not really a big deal but I wonder if it is better to pay more for one that will potentially last longer and if I am believing the marketing, make my tea taste better....
I would love to know what you think, so please let me know by leaving a comment here.
Thank you for joining me for a cup of tea and a cozy mystery question today, I would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment here or email me at karenmowen@gmail.com
I have the Breville and LOVE it! It's nearly a year old now (got it for Christmas last year) and all is well. I drink a variety of tea types that taste better if steeped with the correct temperature, so mine gets good use that way. The Cuisinart you show is new to me seeing and it sounds perfect for you! Especially since it has the 3 year warranty and is less expensive! However that said, I started buying a glass kettle even before the Breville and I do prefer it to plastic (bpa's) or steel (rust). So I don't know if I've actually been helpful or not...lol....I would go to the Breville, I love mine.
ReplyDeleteI am worried I might crack it in the sink, but I like your thinking!
DeleteI have the Cuisinart and have used it just about every day for at least 5 years with no problems. Temps are true. Mine was $75 from Amazon.
ReplyDelete5 years makes me thrilled to hear, I have to replace mine all at least once a year, I use mine twice a day. I will look further into this.
DeleteI just bought the Hamilton Beech glass one and I love it!!! It's safer then drinking out of plastic ones which leeches cancer causing chemicals. With the glass it heats up faster and my tea taste simply amazing . It is safe and easy to use. The water is the perfect temperature every time. I find it very efficient. I paid 29 at Target. I cannot recommend it enough!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lexie! That is a great endorsement!
