I am absolutely delighted to have the prequel, All- Butter Short Dead to H.Y. Hanna's Oxford Tearoom Mystery Series on my table and to share the review with you today. This is a British based cozy series and I immediately fell into step with main character Gemma and the story behind how the Oxford Tearoom here after called "The Little Stables Tearoom" came to be. This story had me very excited and quickly very annoyed at the bumbling police inspector. I was actually felt my irritation grow as the story progressed. had this been a paper back I am certain I would have thrown the book across the room. I do love it when you become so emotionally involved with a story like this one. This is a sixteen chapter story of which I was thrilled because by chapter 12 I had a good idea of who I thought the actual murder was, I was thrilled to know I had it pegged correctly even if I did not fully understand why! This was a great British cozy and made me want to continue reading the series.
Gemma ditches her high-flying job and returns to Oxford to follow her dream: opening a traditional English tearoom serving warm buttery scones with jam and clotted cream... Only problem is--murder is the first thing on the menu and Gemma is the key suspect! And the only people Gemma can turn to for help are four nosy old ladies from her local Cotswolds village - not to mention a cheeky little tabby cat named Muesli. Who was the mysterious woman Gemma met on the flight back from Australia and why was she murdered? Now Gemma must find the killer, solve the mystery and clear her name if she's to have her cake--and serve it too.
I found this to be a very exciting start to a series I have yet to read and I really enjoyed the characters, felt like they were very real and believable. I am very excited when I find a truly good cozy series that has to do with tea and I can honestly say that I highly recommend H.Y.Hanna's All-Butter Short Dead. **Also at time of this review this book is currently FREE so download, read and review it today!
